Tough cookie

Don't be decieved by the sweet smile of the little girl. She may be young but she is one tough cookie. Life is generally hard without electricity and running tap water which we all take for granted. This little girl and granny were out collecting firewood when we met them on our way to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune.

Looking at them as they turned away and headed home, I couldn't help but feel how fortunate we are.

Urguu Tourist Camp

Following Erdene Zuu, we went on to Urguu Tourist Camp. Mongolia has some of the most beautiful skies. Sunrise and sunsets are always dramatic and colourful. The migrating birds were a special treat.

Dusk at Urguu Camp. After the long drive it was great to just sit down with a cold beer outside the ger and enjoy the sunset.

An incredibly colourful sky, its a different show every morning and evening. Even the toilet looks beautiful.

Dawn at Urguu Camp, calls of the migrating birds and an upset stomach woke me up early.
