Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel

I took lots of photos but none could do justice to the paintings of Raphael and the other renaissance masters.

The 50mm f1.2 was great in low light when photographing these ancient tapesteries.

The Sistine Chapel does not allow photography. A friend send me a link to this wonderful website where you can see a 360° view of the Sistine Chapel.

Vatican City & St Peter's Basilica

St. Peter's Basilica (Italian: San Pietro in Vaticano) is a major basilica in Vatican City.

Art and architechure at its best !

The Pietà (1498–1499)
A masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti

The dome is accessible to visitors. Its a pretty steep climb and the last section of the stairs is actually quite a tight squeeze.  At the end of the climb you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the entire Vatican City and it's surrounding area..

Pantheon

This is another iconic place to see in Rome. A beautiful architectural wonder like many other churches here and also one of the most difficult to capture in image.

The outside may look old and weathered but once you walk through the large brass doors the mega dome and well preserved interiors will blow you away.

Historic wonders everywhere

Rome is such an old city , everywhere you walk there will always be something historic and beautiful to explore.

The Roman Forum

We did this attraction on a walking tour, lots of good walking tours are available. Most are conducted in english and wouldn't cost you more then a few euros. Planning to spend a good part of the day here, we packed sandwiches, fruits and drinks for a picnic.

Colosseum

The symbol of Rome.

Trevi Fountain

The Da-Vinci Code fever was sweeping across the globe after the book and blockbuster movie so you can imaging the excitment of tourists visiting Trevi Fountain.

Villa Borghese

What a beautiful quiet place in contrast to the Spanish Steps. I liked it so much I went back many more times to wander around the park.
